A fireplace provides a great centerpiece to a den or family room, but how do you add one to a space that has nothing currently? Our client faced this very dilemma when they contacted us, and we worked together to turn their dream into a reality.
This client had a perfectly good room, but no perfect way to utilize it. Instead of just leaving the 4 blank walls, our client desired to transform the room into a den-like atmosphere. With no great way to install a traditional fireplace with venting, we opted to think outside the box with this project. With our client’s ideas in mind, we went to the drawing board.
The cabinets on the left and right were actually purchased from a kitchen cabinet line. We spruced them up by adding crown moulding paired with beautiful fluted trim to meet the walls. This delivered a built in look. While a stone look was coveted, out client did not want the rough edges of a traditional stacked stone. To solve this problem, we installed a ceramic tile that looked extremely similar to stacked stone. The same tile was installed to create the hearth for the project. To complete the look, our client selected an elegant looking ventless, electric fireplace to provide not only warmth for the room, but also the ambiance of glowing fire that can be used in all seasons.
