Not all projects present dramatic changes. Sometimes you just need a simple swap out or update. Our client’s tub needed some attention for sure, so they opted for a tub replacement! They wanted to get rid of the old cast iron tub and cheap glue up surround. Although the swap out seemed pretty straight forward, the wainscot around the tub presented a small challenge. After we selected and received the materials at our shop, we scheduled the project and got it underway.
Out with the old:
You can see the wainscot and the trim in the pictures above. We extracted the mouldings and went to work on the tub replacement. We also replaced the old faucet to prevent future maintenance issues. When replacing a tub, it is always a good idea to swap out the shower valve at the same time. The end result doesn’t jump off the page at you, but was exactly what our client needed.
In with the new:
The new tub surface allows for much easier cleaning. Also, due to the stud mount design of the new unit, not more silicone is needed! The wainscot was modified and reinstalled, and our client loved the results.
