When someone thinks of an accent wall, paint typically comes to mine. While painting an accent wall in a room makes a cosmetic difference, accent walls do not have to be limited to painting. This client wanted the look of brick to be incorporated into their eat in dining room. A brick veneer installed one this one wall definitely added character to the space. Once mortared and finished, the illusion of a brick wall made it look like a whole new room. This client continued the look into the back splash of the kitchen, which tied both spaces together. A porous surface such as brick is often avoided in a kitchen space because it can absorb stains and smells – yes, smells – but if treated properly can add character. Like any other product, proper care goes a long way.
While brick remains one option, it is most certainly not the only option. Many of our clients have ship lap installed as an accent wall. Reclaimed wood, barn siding and even charred timbers can transform the look of a space. Give us a call to go over your project today!
