Tiled Shower Room

Welcome back to another A+ Home Improvements’ project! Our next homeowner faced a dilemma. They didn’t want to renovate the entire bathroom, but the tiled shower room had cracks in the pan. While stuff can happen, typically showers pans don’t crack unless they are installed improperly. The fact that shower really needed nothing else made this a definite bummer. Some contractors will claim to replace the pan while keeping the tile surround intact. Unfortunately, this option does not provide the best long term solution. Tiled shower enclosures should be water proof before the tile even goes up. If you remove the pan without removing the surround, true waterproofing becomes impossible. Let’s take a look at what we started with:

At first glance, the shower looks pretty good. Upon closer inspection, however, you start seeing the issues creeping up everywhere. We broke the bad news to the home owner that the entire enclosure needed to come out. Since we were already tackling the renovation, we decided to install a full length bench in the rear of the tiled shower room. We also moved the location of the niches and deleted the pointless transom opening above the shower entry door. Take a look:

Fantastic! Our crew knocked this project out of the park. The tile arrangement turned out beautifully, and the new shower was ready to rock and roll. Sometimes projects pop up out of necessity more than simply being cosmetic. We would love the opportunity to work with you, give us a call to get your project started today!
