Welcome back to another A+ Home Improvements’ project! At the time of this post, we are gearing up for the winter months. Many home owners tend to ignore the exterior projects around their home during this cold time frame. We continue to knock these projects out to finish up the exterior season, but that doesn’t mean the the planning stops. Many clients use this time of year to plan for their spring to-do list. If you miss the deadline for this years schedule, we would love to help you get on the books for the spring wave. This time around, our client called us to resurface a deck. Upon inspecting the space, it appeared that the deck needed some love. While most of the deck structure remained solid, the floor needed a facelift. Take a look:
The heavy wear on this deck floor was apparent, but further investigation shed some light on the substructure’s condition as well. While mostly solid, a few joists needed to be replaced. This project also presented a little wrinkle – fully welded, continuous handrails around the perimeter. We came up with a game plan and got to work.
Presto – stunning results!! Once we shored up the framing, we installed new treated lumber at the floor to provide new life for this airing deck. We always recommend waiting a few months (at minimum) before applying any stain or coating to your new deck. As the wood seasons, coatings applied prematurely will fail and peel. The project turned out perfectly and our client loved the results! As we prepare our schedule for next season, what projects do you need a hand with? Give us a call to go over your list today!
