Spring’s arrival allows us to start focusing on some new outdoor projects. Winter weather likes to drag down people’s spirts, but the first few warm days of the year infuse life into everyone! Our next client’s deck desperately needed some help. From first glance, the deck appeared to be in fairly decent working order. Upon further investigation, however, the hidden monsters started to show their heads. It appeared that the original installer had placed the footers too shallow, allowing them to heave over time. Also, the inadequate framing had begun to give out after years of use. Our client liked the overall layout, so we stayed pretty close to the original foot print with our new treated deck. After removing the existing structure, we dug holes for our new footers and started to get the framing in place.
Our new treated deck was beginning to take shape. The old deck contained a small “bump out” that created wasted space for our client, so we deleted it and framed the new structure straight across. The final results were perfect!
