We love building decks, but a complete deck renovation was needed in this instance. While the deck definitely showed signs of wear and tear, the water damage at the rim joist and sill plate were not as obvious. That is, until the deck fell away from the house due to the rot. We removed the old deck and replaced the rim joist and sill plate. Once we sealed up the exterior of the home, it was time to build the new deck.
See the water damage in the pictures above? This needed to be remedied immediately. No one wants to sink money into ripping out a deck just to rebuild it, but sometimes there is no other solution. The deck renovation provided a fresh new look for the back of the home, giving the home dwellers a fantastic space to use over the summer!
