Welcome back to another A+ Home Improvements’ project! With old man winter right around the corner, many homeowners are wrapping up exterior projects around the home. Our next client was no different – they wanted a two level deck rebuilt. After inspecting the existing condition, we decided that it needed to be replaced. The appearance boards definitely showed their age. In addition to this, the handrails and baluster spacing were out of code. As far as the structure, the joists were beginning to sag and would have provided a poor substrate for simply installing new deck boards. Our client loved the existing layout, so we stuck with it. Here is a look at the existing deck:
Pretty layout, but also pretty bad condition. We carefully demolished and extracted the existing deck, and began setting posts for our new one. We located the steps and benches in a similar pattern because our client was used to the layout. The homeowner loves the new space, and looks forward to utilizing it in the spring.
Definitely an improvement! Do you have a two level deck that needs replaced? Looking to install a concrete patio with a new pergola? Even though winter is creeping up on us, now is the time to start planning your spring projects. Homeowners often procrastinate until spring to begin the process of tackling exterior work. This approach puts contractors behind the eight-ball and causes delays for clients. Be proactive and get the process going today so you can be at the top of the list in the spring.
