A bathroom should not only look nice and presentable, but also should serve your needs. Our client desperately needed a bathroom update, but also needed the new space to work for her husband. The bathroom included the original, old tile on the floor and wainscot, which definitely had to go. The shower area was completely tiled and was recessed into the wall because of the small space. Once we got some direction from our client, we went to work designing a space that worked for her.
Our client’s main objective was simple – a clean looking looking bathroom that would be simple to maintain. We framed a pony wall to create the new shower space, but didn’t run it to the ceiling per our client’s request. Vinyl plank flooring replaced the dated tile, and crisp white mouldings left a clean appearance. We opted for a vinyl wainscot to ensure long-lasting performance. When it comes to the products you choose, be sure to read manufacturer recommendations to ensure that the product is installed properly. Case in point: the vinyl wainscot called for painting with nothing but oil-based paint, because standard acrylic and latex paint would not bond properly. The bathroom update turned out to be a resounding success, and our client remains absolutely thrilled with the results.
