Hello and welcome back to another A+ Home Improvements’ project! Nearly all renovations revolve around making a home fit the home owners needs. Sometimes they desire a large deck to enjoy with friends. Other times it involves a beautiful kitchen to enjoy family meals in. This next project, however, centered around an accessible shower for a couple as they aged gracefully in their home. The existing bathroom contained a shower, but it just wasn’t cutting it. The built in seating provided barely enough to fit one butt cheek on, let alone a comfortable seating area. We helped our client with product selection and then geared up to tackle the job. Here is a peek at the existing shower:
This shower unit remained fairly common with builders for a while, and we have replaced too many of them to count! This client’s necessities included a folding shower seat, some grab bars and a low threshold. While we were already swinging the hammer, they also opted to update the fixtures in the bathroom as well. When installing grab bars, it is imperative to install blocking in the wall along with the proper surround to adhere them to. The finished product met our client’s needs perfectly:
