Welcome back to another A+ Home Improvements’ project! This time around we are focusing on a project that doesn’t normally get a lot of attention. The porches of many homes contain porch columns. Typically, homeowners do not address them until they are literally falling apart. Our next client’s porch contained typical, large round columns that needed replaced. Many times we install permacast porch columns that closely match the existing style, but not this time. Our homeowner already planned for the look they wanted to achieve. They desired cedar wrapped porch columns with some decorative flair. Let’s take a look at what we started with:
Look familiar? This is a fairly common sight throughout neighborhoods. We lifted the porch roof and installed new structural posts. We then wrapped the post with cedar and added a small ledge to capture our client’s coveted look. Take a look:
Nice, right?! While not the largest project, the new posts definitely provided some character to the front of the home.
