Welcome back to another A+ Home Improvements’ project! With the holidays around the corner, we wanna wish everybody a happy holiday season!! The exterior season is slowly coming to a close, but we are still knocking out exterior projects. Our next client wanted to refurbish an old deck. When they contacted us, they believed that the entire structure may have to be redone. After a little investigation, we were able to determine that the structure itself was perfectly fine, which saved the client thousands of dollars. The deck boards and the hand rails, however, needed to be replaced. Take a look at what we started with:

What a great space to hang out! As you can see, the deck wasn’t in horrible shape, but it definitely needed a little love. We replaced the deck floorboards and updated the rails, while also installing traditional 2×2 balusters with a sweep and a drink rail. Being able to save the structure itself saved our clients a large chunk of money. Take a look at the final results:

Definitely a huge difference!! Our client liked the rustic look of the treated deck, but added a little style with the copper post caps. When replacing a large amount of lumber on a deck, always remember to let it season before you apply any kind of coating. If you stain or seal it too quickly, the finish can peel off as the treatment evaporates from the wood. Do you need to refurbish an old deck? Our team of experts is ready to tackle your project. Give us a call today to get your project started – we look forward to working with you!
