This week, we want to go over a basement upgrade that we just tackled. Basements provide the perfect opportunity to create extra living space. Some homeowners strictly use their basement as a storage area, while some basements have water issues that create difficulties in using them at all. Our next home owner has been a long-time client, allowing us to perform numerous renovations from painting to renovating a couple of bathrooms. While functional, the existing basement space left a lot to be desired. In addition to updating the lighting, our client wanted to remove the drop ceiling to provide more ceiling height. They also wanted new flooring and small cosmetic changes to dress up the space a little. Take a look at what we started with:

As you can see, the basement provided ample space to create a nice living area. We went over some options with the client, and got ready to tackle the work. We ripped out the carpet and installed luxury vinyl plank flooring. For the ceiling, our client opted to update the lighting and spray everything flat black. Typically when we paint a ceiling, we paint the ductwork and utilities as well. In this instance, our client’s ductwork liked to condensate. To remedy the situation, we installed insulated ductwork. To provide some contrast, the home owner decided to leave the metal look of the new ductwork against the new black ceiling. After wrapped the support posts and completed some wall work, the new space was ready to use. Take a look:

Basement Upgrade!!
One of the smaller details that we incorporated into the project entailed opening one side of the stairwell to make the space feel more open. While only a small change, it provided a big difference in the feel of the room. The space now provided a cozy option for hanging out with family and friends. Here at A+ Home Improvements, we love working on projects that will create spaces for memories to be made. Give our team of experts a call to go over different options for your home, including a basement upgrade. We look forward to working with yo
