A+ Home Improvements continues to tackle projects, and next up consists of a colorful kitchen! Our client’s kitchen contained a peninsula that created a closed off feeling. Also, the wall between the kitchen and the living room contained a small “window” that served practically no purpose. The floor in the kitchen and attached foyer needed to be updated as well. The foyer contained an under-utilized coat closet, so we decided to incorporate the space into the new kitchen design. To created more cabinet space, the homeowner opted to remove the soffits in the kitchen to open it up. Let’s take a look at what we started with:
Getting a Game Plan:
While the existing space provided the necessities to live, it in no way worked for our clients everyday way of life. They hated being cut off by the peninsula, and wanted a bigger viewing area into the living room. To accommodate for the lost cabinet space created by eliminating the peninsula, we deleted the coat closet to allow room for the fridge to move down. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! We enlarged the see through area and even created enough room to accommodate a small coffee area. The old laminate and tile flooring came out, and the soffits became a thing of the past. While still a work in progress, the transformation was already evident. Look how much space we gained by deleting the coat closet! We were well underway to a totally transformed kitchen space!!
Totally different space! To provide contrast, we installed a butcher block top at the seating area between the kitchen and living room. A big theme for our clients from the very beginning centered around warm, inviting colors. Look at the contrast between the tile and the walls – what a colorful kitchen!! Our installation team completed a knock-out job on this one. Better yet, our clients absolutely loved the results!
