Here we go again! Our next project tasked us with turning this kitchen from drab to FAB! Renovations help turn a house into a home, and this project did not disappoint. Our client actually remodeled some of their home themselves, but wanted to have the kitchen completed professionally. We accepted the challenge and started working with our client on the layout and material selection. We needed to completely overhaul the kitchen space and turn it into a beautiful kitchen that the home owner could be proud of. While our client had an idea of what they wanted, they needed a hand designing their vision. The new concept not only updated the kitchen, but changed the layout to create more functionality. Here is a look at what we started with:
The kitchen definitely needed an overhaul. The lighting was sparse, and the cabinets had seen better days. The decades old flooring needed some attention as well. This portion of the home was situated on a slab, creating some obstacles for running electrical for the new island concept. Once we understood our clients wants and needs, we formulated the new design and got to work.

We eliminated the bulky peninsula and trenched through the slab for our island electrical. The dated florescent lighting was eliminated and new LED recessed fixtures were installed. We also installed a couple of pendant lights over the peninsula to add some ambient lighting. To add some more usable space, we installed a beverage center at the island. Undercabinet lighting added additional character to the space as well. Our client hated how closed off the space felt due to the small doorway leading from the kitchen to the living room area, so we opened the space and installed a bar seating area to bring the rooms together. The finished results turned out even better than imagined:
The space was unrecognizable after the transformation! Our client loved the new layout and open feel that the kitchen now provided.
