Welcome back, Everybody! Our next client wanted to complete a renovation to update an old kitchen. Older homes often have kitchen spaces that are cramped or contain a weird layout. In this situation, the kitchen offered absolutely nothing that our homeowner wanted. Over the years, previous owners cobbled together the cabinets and flooring, and installed paneling over the ceiling to cover the failing plaster. One obstacle contained in the kitchen was the chimney that ran right in the middle of a cabinet run. We worked with our client to get the perfect design, and then geared up to tackle the project. Take a look at what we started with:
Definitely needs some help, right?! We designed the new space to incorporate the chimney enclosure into the layout so it didn’t stick out like a sore thumb. We also removed all of the paneling and repaired the ceiling. Notice the new location of the stove? Moving the stove and the fridge allowed a much better flow for the space. Our client loved the idea of a farm sink, and the one they selected paired perfectly with the countertops. Take a look:

What a transformation! This literally does not look like the same kitchen.
