A+ Home Improvements continues to knock out projects this summer! Our next client desired a new deck to replace their concrete patio. The existing patio was small and didn’t suit their needs. Being able to step out onto the deck without stepping down represented a huge must for this home owner. With that in mind, we drew up the plans and got our client’s seal of approval to get the ball rolling. To alleviate the need to remove the concrete patio, we cut sections out to provide room for our new footers. Although not required in this situation, our client opted for a handrail to be installed as well. Let’s see the progress:
A number of ways exist to frame your deck. For our projects, we typically frame a free standing structure as opposed to ledgering to the home. This allows the look of an attached deck without the extra steps of having to flash the framing into the home. Once we framed the structure, we installed treated deck boards at the floor and skirting. We also installed treated 2x handrails with 2×2 balusters and a set of steps leading to the back yard. The final results turned out to be exactly what the home owner wanted:
