Welcome back to another A+ Home Improvements’ project! As winter carries on, we look forward to the projects being planned for the spring. With this in mind, we wanted to showcase a client that needed us to revive a deck. The existing space provided a large area to hang out and enjoy company, but had begun to show signs of wear after years of use. Upon investigation, the framing structure of the deck remained in great shape. This helped ease the cost of the renovation for this home owner. We put together a game plan and proceeded with the project. Take a look at what we started with:
The age definitely showed through on the existing structure. We stripped the deck floor off and removed the handrails and steps. Once removed, we further investigated the structure to avoid missing any issues that would compromise the deck down the road. With the free and clear, we proceed to put the deck back together:
This new space checked off all of the boxes! To avoid constant seams throughout the deck floor, we installed divider boards to allow for continuous floor board installation. We also reframed the steps and installed new handrails to code. The finished project nailed our client’s wishes, and was ready to provide many more years of enjoyable use.
